Leslie Charleson Put on Recurring Status
Published:

Leslie Charleson, Monica Quartermaine on General Hospital for the last 33 years, has been put on recurring status.
We see so little of Monica now, it will be a real shame if we see less of her. She is, after all, part of the backbone of General Hospital.

On Brenda, Movie Star Boyfriends, and More
Published:

Just a few thoughts on several storylines currently running on General Hospital.
So Brenda's back, and if some of my readers aren't excited, according to the ratings, General Hospital has been doing very well, #3 behind the two biggies, Young and the Restless and Bold & Beautiful.
The hoopla about Brenda might seem like overkill, but it must be remembered that Mr. Guza is CRAZY about her. Also, and this is my own opinion, I think the character worked beautifully not only with Sonny, but also Jax, and I loved Brenda's relationship with Jason and her easy camaraderie with Ned.
I hoped Guza's devotion might translate into a great storyline, and it still might. It isn't now. Here's the problem as I see it. This movie star thing is from hunger. IT'S A SNOOZE.
I can't believe Murphy Sinclair proposed to Brenda, since the two of them act like they barely know each other. I've been on blind dates where the conversation was less awkward. Also, did Brenda really wear a sweater from Wal-Mart to that premiere?
At the very least, Brad Rowe's and Vanessa Marcil-Giovinazzo's scenes seem underrehearsed if not badly adlibbed. Brenda needs to get her 80 pounds back to Port Charles soon.
Now to move on to something else that's bugging me. This kidnapping of little Aiden. How the heck is anyone sure that's Elizabeth's baby? I asked a friend of mine who works in a maternity ward, and she said babies have those little monitors and a couple of ID bands. We know all of Aiden's IDs were removed. Without those items, according to my friend, a blood test would be in order. Absolutely no one has returned this baby to the hospital even to see if he's okay. How do we know little Pablo was even well cared for? One can't just go by looks.
Another thing: I realize that with today's budget cuts, the storylines are lasting a little longer. But really, Patrick, don't you think it's time for a restraining order? Haven't you figured out, after 100 conversations, that Lisa is NOT going to get the message? Also, come clean with your wife. It's obvious Lisa is going to continue to use your indiscretion as a weapon until you do.
Finally, every time I see an old episode of General Hospital, I realize that the show today, in large part, is missing a huge component of what made it so good: humor. There's not enough. The episode where Jason and Brenda get married in Las Vegas, with each one telling a version of the story, is classic. GH needs to get its funny bone back. And the writers need to up the writing. I hope they're catching some of these old episodes.

Robin and Stone: Together Again
Published:

Robin Scorpio will be having a health crisis (probably thanks to Lisa messing with her medications) and who will visit her from the Great Beyond? Stone Cates!
Michael Sutton will be reprising his role of Stone on September 28 when he appears to Robin. Sutton, now a PR/marketing person and well-known restauranteur, played Stone from 1993-1995. Star-crossed lovers Robin and Stone had one of the great love stories on General Hospital.
Let's face it, with the problems Robin has been having (and is going to have), he should be a welcome sight.

Beautiful, multi-talented actress/singer Andrea Marcovicci will join the cast of General Hospital on September 3 in the recurring role of Sophia. She will be involved in Sonny's and Brenda's storyline.
Marcovicci had a prolific career in television and film in the '70s and '80s. Though she still does TV and film, in the last twenty years, she has turned to theater and cabaret. Today she is primarily known as a cabaret star, having performed in such venues as Town Hall, the Algonquin, Lincoln Center, and Carnegie Hall, all in New York City, and she has sung with Pops orchestras throughout the country.
Stage work includes shows on Broadway and her highly-acclaimed performance of Lady in the Dark in Philadelphia, among many others. She has just been announced as the star of a staged reading of the musical Coco, about Coco Chanel, a role she has played previously.
